Bill Burlingham - 1915-2011

Barwicker No.102
June 2011

Bill Burlingham, chauffeur to three generations of the Gascoigne Family died peacefully at his home at Lotherton Hall on Friday 18 March 2011. Bill had lived in Aberford and Lotherton all his 95 years and was a well loved and popular man in this area. His coffin was taken to the chapel at Lotherton where it remained overnight before his extremely well attended funeral at St Ricarius Church, Aberford, on Monday 28 March.

Although in failing health for some time Bill had talked to the Barwick Women's Fellowship when Martin Tarpey and T gave an illustrated talk about our book The Spirit ofLotherton. Unfortunately due to our Society meetings being held during the evening we were never able to get him to join us during one of our talks about his life. Our Society extends sympathy to his daughter Pat and the family. Bill will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

PAULINE ROBSON
